Our Infant
Classroom
6 Weeks to 12 Months
There is so much more that happens in the RHECC Infant Room than just feeding bottles and baby food, changing diapers, and rocking babies to sleep!
In the Infant Room, we focus on each child’s unique needs, schedules, and development to foster their growth at their own pace. Infants develop best when they are assured of having a trusted caregiver who can read their cues and respond to their needs. Therefore, anything we can do to build trust with children and their parents is our number one goal.
Communication with infants and their parents is a crucial part of building that trust. Positive, nurturing interactions with babies such as smiling and laughing with them, playing with them on the floor at their level, engaging them in sensory and art activities, singing songs and playing instruments, reading age-appropriate books to them, playing peek-a-boo, and teaching them basic sign language are just some of the ways we connect with each child. Staying connected to parents is equally important. We communicate through parent/teacher conferences, email, phone calls, daily notes and photos in our secure Brightwheel app, and in person during pick-up and drop-off times.
